These talks were given in Norway in November, 2007, to audiences from two Scandinavian Countries, Finland & Norway, both have State Lutheran Churches in which the vast majority of the population have been baptised as babies and believe they are thereby saved and safe, though few attend church. Clergy are paid through government taxes to ‘hatch, match and dispatch’ citizens. David wanted to help them out of the 16th Century into the 21st, by highlighting some of the aspects of the Gospel we preach and the churches we serve, where Luther failed to apply his basic principle of ‘sola scriptura’ (Scripture alone).
This pungent analysis is relevant to any European nation with an established church, including our own. This message brings together many insights David has touched on in recent years.
